Bright, punchy and unmistakably Tele, the Doppelgänger ’67 is voiced after the leaner, more open sound of late-’60s Fender pickups.
The bridge uses a low-wind 42 AWG plain enamel coil with sand-cast Alnico 5 magnets for well-defined pick attack, tight low end, and twang for days without getting ice-picky on top. The neck uses 43 AWG plain enamel and a nickel-silver cover for excellent clarity and brightness while still keeping the warmth and roundness you want from a Tele neck pickup.
Together, the set has a slightly scooped midrange, strong string separation and a lively, dynamic feel. Wide open, they’re crisp and immediate. Roll the guitar volume back just a touch and they get sweeter, glassier and incredibly expressive.
The bridge uses a modernized vintage stagger for better balance with today’s plain-G string sets. Both pickups are lightly potted in a paraffin/beeswax blend and handcrafted in the USA with period correct materials.
Think: tight lows, airy mids, glassy highs, punchy attack and classic Tele tone.
Neck Covers - Raw covers will have scratches because they are not plated and unpolished. Chrome, Gold, and Nickel plated covers are polished and will not have scratches on their tops. All covers are made in the USA from pure nickel silver for the best tone.
Bridge String - Choose either a black string or a white string to be wrapped around the bridge pickup. Black was common for '50s era pickups and white was used in the '60s.
3-Wire Mod - The neck pickup will come equipped with a third wire (a dedicated ground wire for the metal cover) giving you the option to use a 4-way switch with both pickups in series.
Aged Poles - With this option the alnico rod magnets are patinaed which gives the pickups an aged look.

Mr. Fatpups
I'm Chris and I love guitars. I was lucky enough to get my first guitar 30 years ago when I was 13 and I've been hooked ever since. As a youngster I immediately began tinkering with them and foolishly got myself in trouble one time for completely disassembling my Uncle's Strat. Oops!
Over the years I've had the opportunity to work a number of different jobs ranging from guitar teacher, to electronics manufacturing, to chef, to pickups. One thing that never changed during those years is my love for guitars and the ongoing pursuit of amazing guitar tone.
Today building pickups is my full time profession with myself as the Fatpups sole operator. Since 2015 I've been fortunate enough to have made thousands of pickups for people worldwide. I would be happy to hear from you so please let me know if there is anything I can do!
